Project Description

The Clients were looking for somewhere to prepare pot plants and do a bit of caning. I was pleasantly surprised to meet Rob and Lucy who are both serious gardeners whilst Lucy also repairs and restores  split cane chairs.

The studio sits on compacted stone ‘piles’ so that the tree roots below are not damaged and any flow of ground water beneath the studio is unaffected. The cladding is Western Red Cedar from English Hardwoods in Cocking, Sussex. The roofing  is reconstituted artificial slate with lead ridge and hips. The studio is fully insulated with 40mm rigid insulation and also incorporates a separate garden tool store.
